Okay, so here’s the deal. There isn’t a whole lot you can do to the gameplay of an online slot to make it different. All of them are going to have a number of reels (usually 3 or 5) and you spin them and when you get certain matching combinations you win money. That’s basically it. Therefore, to set the games apart and make them more interesting, they come in a variety of themes. Some themes are rather clever, such as the story-based games that tell spy tales, soap operas and more. Others are more generic. There are still some, however, that are just plain bizarre.

Okay, there’s a hot dog, which I guess is pretty American, even if the food may actually be from Germany or Austria (I’ve heard different stories about its origin).

From there things get a little odd. First of all, the title: What do they mean by “bars?” Are they associating prisons with American culture? Or are they calling us drunks that are always getting loaded at sports bars? Well, the slot symbols can give us a clue that. There is a symbol of a beer mug, a common item found at sports bars. There is also a stack of gold bars, though, which have “bar” specifically printed on them. So is the “bars” part referring to the amount of gold America has, talking about our vast wealth, even though our economy has gone away from the gold standard?

I really can’t think of a good reason for the gold bars. I know America has a dominant global economy, but are we known for having gold? It’s not like we export gold or use gold to buy things. We use cash, credit cards, stock, bonds, etc. to buy things. That’s not the biggest head scratcher, though. There is another symbol that I swear is an Oreo cookie. Seriously? We’re celebrating Americans’ love for junk food? I know there are a lot of obese people and unlike many countries, we can afford to waste money on things like junk food, but are Oreo cookies what you think of when you think of America?

There’s also a turkey, which seems normal enough, given our celebration of Thanksgiving. However, just to make things abnormal the turkey has an American flag sticking out of it. Okay, I give up. The slot also has an Uncle Sam hat and a football that is decorated with the stars and stripes.

Anyway, enough of the confusing theme; on to the game itself. Bars & Stripes is a 5-reel, 25-payline video slot that has a jackpot of 50,000 coins.
