Online slot player refuses jackpot
It’s a decision that Hugo Reyes could definitely appreciate, but a lot of people think the man is crazy. An online slot player won a progressive jackpot at Jackpot City Casino and now refuses to accept the win. Why? Because of the numbers involved.
The man, who is being called Mr. C, won a prize of $4,444 on the WowPot Microgaming slot. Mr. C is a player of Chinese origin and anyone interested in numerology can probably tell you that the number 4 is considered back luck in China. In Chinese languages, the number 4 is pronounced the same as the word for death. Therefore, numerologists and superstitious people avoid the number at all costs, believing it is a harbinger of death.
You can imagine Mr. C’s dismay when he won a jackpot that is of four fours. Winning over four grand is a great deal, but not if the result is death. As Hurley in Lost learned after winning the lottery using the numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 and 42, winning using cursed numbers isn’t a good thing. For Hurley, the result was the death of his grandfather, the priest at his grandfather’s funeral being struck by lightning, his best friend running off with his girl, his restaurant being hit by a meteorite, his plane crashing on the island and more. For Mr. C, according to his beliefs, accepting the cursed money could result in his death or some other misfortune for his family.
On the other hand, that’s a lot of money to turn down. According to a spokesperson for Jackpot City Casino, the casino is talking to Mr. C to see if they can find a good solution to the problem. I have a few solutions that the online casino might want to consider:
- Give the money to me. Granted, this may not be the best solution for Mr. C, because he’s still out the money, but I’m not afraid of the number 4 and would gladly accept it.
- Change the winning amount to $3,333. That number isn’t scary.
- Give him a bazillion free spins instead.
- Just laugh and say “Dude, it’s just a number.”
I’m out of ideas.
Casino bonuses at Lucky Red
It’s a new week and if you’re one of the people who was off on Monday in the United States for Labor Day, it’s the beginning of the work week. At Lucky Red Casino, that means the start of a new casino bonus promotion.
As is often the case at Lucky Red, the casino bonus is different depending on your game of choice. That allows the casino to give you a larger bonus to compensate for your game having a higher house edge. In this case, players of online slots, keno and scratch cards get the best bonus, because they have the worst odds when playing the games. Fans of those games can receive a 60% deposit match bonus, with a maximum limit of $1,000. It is an unlimited bonus, so it can be claimed as many times as is desired. The coupon code for that bonus is PROPOWER. This deposit and bonus must be wagered at least 25 times before a withdrawal can be made.
For players of online blackjack and video poker, Lucky Red is offering a 45% match bonus on the deposits. Again, this is an unlimited bonus with an upper limit of $1,000. The coupon code for this bonus is LUCKYWEEK. Players must wager this deposit and bonus a minimum of 50 times before a cashout is allowed.
For players of any other table games, there is a third bonus available. It is a 50% match bonus on deposits, with a maximum bonus of $1,000, which can be claimed an unlimited number of times. The coupon code for that final casino bonus is BIGWINNING. Before a withdrawal is permitted, players must wager this bonus and deposit at least 40 times.
As always, make sure to enter the correct coupon code with the cashier. If not, you won’t get credit for the deposit and won’t receive the bonus. To take advantage of the casino bonuses, visit Lucky Red Casino.
Super Slots welcome bonus
For an online slot aficionado like me, Super Slots Casino should be one of my favorite places to play. I mean, they’re saying right in their name that this is a place to play super slots. Or maybe they’re saying that this is a super place to play slots. In either case, it should be right up my alley. It just so happens that they’re right, but I need more than a convenient name to be won over (though it doesn’t hurt).
One thing that can win me over is a good welcome bonus. Super Slots Casino offers a welcome bonus of up to $2,000 free. Players can receive a 100% match bonus on each of their first four deposits, with a maximum bonus limit of $500 each. That’s a pretty good bonus. Is it super? I’m not sure, but we’re on the right track.
The bonuses don’t stop once you are done with those four deposits, though. The online casino offers weekly bonuses, with a different amount that can be saved each day. On Mondays, players can get a 75% match bonus on their first deposit. Players can get a 50% match bonus on their first deposit every Wednesday. The casino understands the concept of TGIF as well. On Fridays, players can receive a 100% match bonus on their first deposit. The maximum bonus amount on those deposits is $100.
With those deposit bonuses offered three times every week, I think their promotions are pretty super, but there is more. The online casino also has a rewards club that costs nothing to join. As you spend more money at the casino, you gain a better reward status and can receive better rewards. For example, Diamond level players get a 75% bonus every Monday, a 50% bonus every Wednesday and a 100% bonus every Friday. For Diamond level players, the maximum bonus amount of $500. Also, on every other deposit you can get 35% cash back.
I suppose it’s up to you to decide whether this online casino really is as super as they say. In addition to those good bonuses, they have a good collection of slot tournaments, such as the current Summer Slot Series, and a good selection of games.
To take advantage of the deposit bonuses, visit Super Slots Casino.
$800 Welcome Bonus at English Harbour
English Harbour Casino is one of the best online casinos for slots players, due to their large selection of games and good number of slot tournaments. Their games are designed by the renowned Vegas Technology firm, which means they are safe and fun to play.
Right now, players who join English Harbour Casino can receive up to $800 free to spend as they choose on the website. The online casino is offering a 100% deposit match bonus on each of your first four deposits. Each bonus has a maximum limit of $200, giving you a total of up to $800 in free money that you can receive.
Like most casino bonuses, these come with some terms and conditions that must be met. The bonuses are credited to your account as casino credits that can be wagered on games, but cannot be redeemed for cash. Your bonus funds are kept separate from any real money that you deposit or win at the casino. Those bonus funds must be wagered at least 20 times at the casino before being withdrawn.
In addition to the deposit bonuses, players earn loyalty points for all games played and once enough points are accrued, they can be redeemed for casino credits. The way you accrue points and how you redeem them for bonuses varies depending on your status as a player, which ranges up to 5-Star Player and Platinum Loyalty status.

Senior Citizens Taking to Online Gambling?
I recently read an article in a California newspaper about how more and more senior citizens are overcoming their “fear of computers” and coming to embrace the new technology. One of the reasons behind this change is that they are being educated on those infernal machines. Understanding new-fangled technology has traditionally been reserved for those whippersnappers, but times are changing.
There are senior groups throughout America who are taking on the challenge of teaching new tricks to these old dogs. One such group, the Alliance on Aging, is holding an education program called Generations Online, which teaches them how to use complicated things like email, Microsoft Word and web browsers. Presumably, it also teaches them comfortable ways to type that won’t cause their arthritis to flare up.
As a result, the Web is seeing an increase in activity from senior citizens, and that includes the online gambling market. When online casinos first became popular, it was a young person’s game, with the user base consisting primarily of men in their twenties and thirties. Just a few years ago, when measuring the demographics for online gambling, the use among senior citizens was so small that most studies put them at 0%. However, as more and more seniors are learning how to use computers and the Interwebs, more are finding their way to online casinos.
It makes sense. If you’ve ever been to a brick and mortar casino, you’ll find a lot of gray, white and blue-haired folks hitting the slot machines, keno, and other games that don’t require the mental capacity of blackjack or poker. After all, even someone with advanced Alzheimer’s can figure out how to push a button on a slot machine. If you’ve ever gone to a bingo hall you have likely seen basically a fun version of a geriatric ward. So if they already like the games, why not play them online?
I expect online gambling to increase among senior citizens to where they eventually overtake younger users. After all, the current batch of seniors are only now learning how to use computers, but someday my generation will be seniors and like all seniors, we’ll be bored and looking for ways to pass our time before we die.
Not that there aren’t other ways for seniors to pass their time, but you can’t spend all day driving slow in the passing lane while looking for a McDonald’s so you can go inside and get a free newspaper and free coffee. A benefit of playing online slots and online bingo is that seniors don’t have to slow down everyone else on the road as they drive to a casino. Another benefit is that no one cares if you haven’t bathed all week (no, putting on cologne doesn’t cover up your old-man smell).
So next time you’re playing at your favorite online casino and feel like trash-talking the person at the table with you, remember that the person could be a senior citizen. That being the case, it might be wise to say nothing. After all, you should be respectful to your elders.
Shopping Spree Slot at Rushmore Casino
Yesterday I wrote about a new online slot called Bomber Girls that some of the feminists probably consider sexist. To make up for that, today I am reviewing a fun new game that every girl should love. It’s called Shopping Spree II and it’s all about the fun of picking out your favorite outfit, going to the mall with your friends, trying on clothes and buying lots of stuff while gossiping about boys and convincing each other that you don’t look fat.
Shopping Spree II is the sequel to the popular original Shopping Spree game and can be played at Rushmore Casino. For symbols, it has basically everything you could want, from cute purses to fancy necklaces to overpriced sunglasses to shoes that are uncomfortable to walk in but make your legs look good. There are also shopping bags and store credit cards that can be used to rack up a big bill without your husband having any idea.
Most women determine their self-worth by their material possessions and how they look, so the Shopping Spree online slot is the perfect game to entice more women to play online. The background and presentation is stylish, like one of those TV shows you like to watch in TLC where the women get a makeover and learn to love themselves on the inside because now they look better on the outside.
If you’re the kind of girl who gets off on using your husband’s credit card, doing some “comfort shopping” and buying things you don’t need while purposely paying much more than they are worth, then I think Shopping Spree II is the perfect online slot for you!
Shopping Spree II is a 5-reel, 9-payline progressive slot. Because it’s a progressive slot, normally I tell you to always bet the maximum, but this time I don’t have to because you have no choice. There is a fixed bet amount of $2.25. The game has a variety of bonuses, including free spins and multipliers and I know how much you ladies love a good deal. Just think of this game’s bonuses as “sales.”

Online Casinos Helping Problem Gamblers
Gambling, both online and in brick and mortar casinos, is a fun activity that can be a great way to spend your time as long as you do so responsibly. Unfortunately, some people have a hard time doing that. Some people are irresponsible with their money and lose more than they ever intended to risk. Some people even become “addicted” to gambling.
Online casinos, contrary to what some may believe, are on the side of the players. Sure, they like taking your money – they are a business, after all – but they also know that keeping you happy is important to their business. No reputable online casino would knowingly take advantage of a player with a gambling problem. For that reason, many online casinos, such as Sloto’ Cash Casino, have policies in place to help.
First of all, most online casinos have a link to Gamblers’ Anonymous or some other help group, where you can obtain information and get the support you need for your problem. Many casinos that that a step farther, though, and have safeguards in place on their website.
One option that is there for people with a gambling problem is a self-imposed ban. If you are simply losing too much money at the online casinos and it is causing a problem, you may decide that it’s best to quit the casino cold turkey. If so, contact customer service and tell them that you want to ban yourself because of your gambling problem. In response, the casino would delete your account, make it so you cannot create a new one, and stop contacting you via email and other methods.
That’s great, but there are some people out there that have a problem with gambling that doesn’t require quitting gambling outright. Maybe you just need a little help being more responsible with how much you spend. That’s where policies like what they have at Sloto’ Cash Casino come in so handy. At Sloto’ Cash, you can set up deposit limits on your account that control how much money you can spend online. By setting that limit, it takes the decision away from you and makes it so that you can’t spend more than you want.
That is a great feature because it addresses the number one problem gamblers have: getting greedy and wagering too much money. I’m a firm believer that before you do any gambling, you should always decide how much money you are willing to spend (and lose) and you set aside that money. Win or lose, you never wager more money than that pre-determined amount. Doing so will help you avoid betting money that you can’t afford to lose. The deposit limit accomplishes the same thing but it also makes it more difficult for you to disregard your own rule.
Options like these make online gambling safer and more fun for everyone. And of course, if you have a gambling problem, please seek help.
Playtech Games Now Available in Mobile Versions
Mobile gaming is the way of the future for online casinos. People in this world, especially in the Western world, are very much part of an on-the-go lifestyle. People are big into multitasking, so instead of sitting at home in front of the computer playing online slots, people would rather play on their phone while they’re on the way somewhere. For that reason, mobile casino games, which can be played on iPhones, other smartphones and someday devices like the iPad, are becoming more popular.
While some other online gaming software designers were quick to get in on the action, Playtech did not. For that reason, fans of Playtech’s games and casinos who wanted to play online slots on their phone had no choice but to play someone else’s games instead. Now, however, there is another option.
Playtech recently announced that they are releasing Mobile Web Apps, a series of applications for cell phones that allow the users to play mobile versions of Playtech’s games. Playtech will make mobile apps for slots in addition to blackjack, poker, craps, and video poker. The mobile games will be specifically designed to utilize the strengths of cell phones and avoid the weaknesses, which should make for better games.
Along with designing mobile games, Playtech also says that they will provide enhanced security for mobile gamers as well as protection for problem gamblers. There is also speculation, fueled by their agreement with Sportech, that the company will also offer sports betting as a mobile application.
There is no announced release date for the Mobile Web Apps as of yet, but fans of Playtech games and casinos should keep an eye out for the apps sometime soon.
Can’t Use Mastercard for Online Gambling
If you live in the United States and want to gamble online, you can’t use Mastercard to do so. The credit card company is now blocking payments from US customers to online gambling sites, which includes online casinos, poker rooms and sports books, among other things.
Previously Mastercard had attempted to block these transactions, but couldn’t find a way to do so. Operators of these gambling sites were able to come up with a code that would not be detected by Mastercard and marked as a banned transaction. The popular credit card company has now found a new method of coding that will allow it to block players from making deposits at these websites, however.
Currently Visa is still an option for US players who want to do some online gambling, but it is likely that the company will follow Mastercard’s lead. The last time Mastercard blocked online gambling sites, it only took 2 months for those websites to find a way around the system. It is an ever-evolving cat and mouse game.
The credit card companies are doing their best to avoid being associated with online gambling due to the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, which was passed in 2006 but has yet to actually take effect. Of course, the UIGEA does not make online gambling illegal in the United States and there is no federal law on the books that does so, either. Currently only 4 states ban online gambling. However, UIGEA does allow the government to crack down on financial institutions that are used for “illegal” online gambling, even though there is no definition given for what types of online gambling are illegal. Mastercard, like many banks, is unwilling to take the chance of being punished by the feds and are playing it safe by banning all online gambling.
SEGAGames Adds CTXM to Deal
A while back, it was reported that SEGAGames signed a deal with Playtech to bring some of its popular brands to online casinos. This is news that excited geeks around the world living in their mothers’ basement (not that there’s anything wrong with that).
The licensing agreement will result in a launch of SEGA branded online gambling websites, such as SEGAPoker.com and SEGACasino.com. On the websites, gambling games will be played utilizing the popular game themes of Virtua Fighter, House of the Dead and more. Here’s hoping there are games for Sonic the Hedgehog and After Burner, my two favorite SEGA games of all time. I think a Sonic slot would be particularly exciting.
Recently, though, SEGA sweetened the deal by bringing in software designer CTXM, which is known for a wide range of games, from standards like Bejeweled to the exciting Supercow. This is great news for anyone who has always wanted to combine their love for video games with their love for online gambling. Here’s hoping Nintendo catches on and follows suit. Anyone else want to see a Mario Kart game where you can bet on the races?
