If you live in the United States, you probably know about the American Automobile Association, commonly known as AAA. Among other benefits, the main thing they are known for is their roadside assistance. Today I needed their help because my car was malfunctioning and I needed to be towed to a repair shop. So I called AAA. Simply put, they are awesome.

Why? Because once they eventually showed up (which, admittedly, took a while) the man who was supposed to charge me $5 per mile to drive me to the repair shop instead took a look at the problem, found a solution, and showed me how to fix it myself. AAA has saved me God knows how much money, and in the process lost some money that they would have made off of me. They did so because the customer is more important.

So what does that have to do with a slot request? Well, slots come in a variety of themes. They are based on superheroes, vacation getaways, sports, different cultures and more. This recent experience got me to thinking that, for whatever reason, in recent years many members of our society have started to act like corporations are the bad guys, that capitalism is just about greed, and that the companies don’t care about the public. My experience with AAA, however, time and again shows me otherwise. They are, of course, only one of many fine examples of corporations doing the right thing.

Again, what does this have to do with a slot request? Well, why can’t we honor corporate America? Why can’t we honor the hard-working and honest employees? I would like a series of slots that honor the good side of the working man and of American companies. Sure, an auto club like AAA would make a good theme – with symbols of a tow truck, mechanic, call center dispatcher and more – but it can go beyond that. How about another slot that honors the hard-working small business owner? How about one about the fine men and women who act as public servants to make the world safer for the rest of us, like the firefighters, police and paramedics? While we’re on the subject, I can’t think of one patriotic online slot that honors the military. Why not? I can think of great themes for that.

What it all comes down to is that we love to think about the make-believe heroes that you find in comic books, but there are real people out there who deserve our honor and respect. Why not honor them with an online slot theme? I would play it. Would you?
