It’s been a while since I’ve read any of those fairy tales about princesses needing to be rescued by princes or seen their Disney movie adaptations, but I’m pretty sure the Roberta’s Castle slot is based on the story of Rapunzel. The prince then threw his magic beans into the ground and when it grew into a giant beanstalk, he climbed the castle wall, climbed in through the window, made a frog kiss her (which may be illegal), and she was awoken. There was then an epic battle between the prince and the stepmother, who transformed into a fire-breathing dragon, but the prince bested her with the help of magic from Rapunzel’s fairy godmother.

Anyway, the same story that I just relayed is excellently portrayed here in the Roberta’s Castle slot. The vibrant colors and clean animation bring to mind the Disney movie on which the game is based. The online slot features symbols of Roberta (who is a stand-in for Rapunzel in order to avoid copyright infringement), the prince, her brush, scissors, her cat and the standard playing card numbers and letters, which are written in calligraphy that brings to mind ancient texts of the fairy tales. I wonder why they didn’t include symbols of the dragon, the seven dwarves or any of that fun stuff…
