Maybe it’s just me, but St. Patrick’s Day often seems to be a little offensive to the Irish. Now, I’m not Irish so I’m not offended, but it’s a holiday celebrating a missionary who is the patron saint of Ireland (even though he wasn’t Irish) and it has come to be nothing more than a celebration of drunkenness. Even so, it seems a bit tasteless for non-Irish people to celebrate an Irish holiday by doing the very thing their culture is stereotyped for: getting drunk. Maybe I’m wrong.
