Slots A Real Problem
With a new report out from the Gambling Commission of Britain, they have
found that more than a quarter of a million people are addicted to online
slots and gambling. They say that around 0.6% of their population has a
problem with gambling. This percentage has not increased greatly since
the same study was done eight years ago, but this did not include online
slots players and betting then.
The numbers for those involved in online slots and betting are 7.4% of
that group are online gamblers. Many say that this is just the beginning
of the downfall of the country, as now that it is legal for online slots
and gambling companies to advertise, more and more people will be tempted
to play the slots.
Plus, they argue, this poll was done before the revisions to the Gambling
Act, so one can expect those numbers to go even higher. They say that the
government’s gambling policy is completely “off the mark” and that they
don’t have a true understanding of where the country is right now.
They say that the report is raising fears about the “dramatic rise in the
number” of those that are playing the online slots and participating in
online gambling. They want more programs in place for those with a
demonstrated problem – and they want them in place now. They say that to
wait is simply inviting more trouble for those already hooked, and leaves
those that are developing a problem to their own demons.
