Illinois Slots Looking Brighter

A major gambling expansion may be happening in Illinois, it seems like the time may be ripe for it. Lawmakers need more money for projects such as transportation, and there are really very few funding sources available to pay for the changes that they want to make. By adding more slots it enables them to bring in more money without raising taxes.

The Illinois Senate has approved three new slots casinos and supporters are hoping for an increase in votes for it now that they have gotten the ball rolling. They say that as far as gaming and slots bills go, the wording will make or break the vote on it. Therefore they have to be careful to give legislators the bill that they will want to vote on.

Expanding gambling in the state is something that has been talked about for a long time now, but nothing has been approved because of the bills that have gone before the House. However, this year they think they stand a good chance of getting a slots bill approved as they have specific programs that they want it to pay for – instead of the general ones that they have pushed for in the past.

With the collapse of a Minneapolis bridge, Illinois is now aware of the transportation issues that they have and know that they have to work fast before they end up with a similar crisis in their state. With the Senate approving the slots casinos, and allowing riverboat casinos to expand as well, they could be looking at much more money coming in to fund those transportation issues. Now it will just be up to the House to make it pass.
