Track’s Doing What They Want

Track owners are so confident that Attorney Marc Dann is going to lose his bid for eliminating slots that they are going ahead and ordering more. Beulah Park already has 15 of the slots games waiting for installation, and now they have more on the way.

Racetrack owners feel that the slots industry is a safe bet, so they are going ahead and ordering more while the case sits in a Franklin County court. They are installing literally hundreds of these slot machines, confident that the court is going to find in their favor.

Track owners are the reason that the campaign to legalize slot machines was on the ballot at all last year, and it cost them upwards of $27 million to do it. However they were unsuccessful and slots remain illegal in the state. However, if they can prove that their slots are amusement games that require some sort of skill, then they get to keep the machines.

That is the only reason they have had them this long. The tracks say that since the courts have been finding that the slots are legal, they might as well jump on the bandwagon and bring them in as well. They say that they are the last ones to the party so no one can blame them for jumping on board.

Some think that the state will never put an outright ban on the slots, so the tracks might as well start adding them as well. However, others say that with the tracks being so bold against their governor, that the legislature might just pass an even tougher anti-slots law because of it.
