Online Casino Gambling Legal in UK
The United Kingdom’s new Gambling Ac makes it legal for UK citizens to gamble online. The government has spent the last two years trying to come up with a plan of rules and regulations that they could apply to the online gambling industry, and that plan has just passed.
It is now legal for online slots, roulette, poker, sports betting, bingo, craps, etc. to be played online. Tony Blair set up most of the rules and regulations for the Act before he was ousted and when Gordon Brown took over he pretty much had to do what was required of him. Blair’s main concern was that children be protected from the online slots and that programs be put into place to protect online gamblers from themselves as well.
But Brown is against online slots and gambling, so he added a tax rate of 15% for online gamblers, so that they were now taxed the same as those B&M casinos. All he did in adding that provision however, was to hurt the UK even further. More and more online casinos decided to stay offshore and not register but still offer their services to gamblers in the UK. Thus the UK lost out on all of that possible revenue.
Now the UK has a bunch of online slots casinos offshore following their own rules and regulations, and their gamblers are participating. Experts say that Brown should have simply required web sites to register with the UK and thus they would have been able to regulate them and take a portion of their proceeds.
