Turkey Joins the Fray
It looks like Turkey will be the latest country to jump in head first into the big leagues of online slots and casinos. The government of the country is currently offering up a ten year contract to the highest bidding outside country, and they will be involved financially by being a license holder. The Turkish national lottery is called Milli Piyango, which reached over 1 billion in Turkish currency just last year in revenues from online gaming alone. Furthermore, whoever wins the bidding will be privy to 17 percent of the profits for that whole entire ten year period.
Of course 17 percent of over a billion in annual revenue is one very appealing proposition.
So far, the demand seems to be pretty competitive, with Italy, Sweden, Greece, Austria and even local investors already showing pretty passionate interest in the company’s licensing agreement.
Even with such a relatively conservative government in place in Turkey, even that country has joined the 21st century and is prepared to do whatever they can in order to set the country up for future success.
It seems all the more disjointed that the United States, one of the world’s most influential and powerful countries, would be so much more disconnected from progress than so many other countries in the world which cannot boast of the same status. Hopefully the US will get it right this November and the country will be able to regain its position as the beacon of light for the world.
