The US Continues Its Bullying

The fact that the entire branding of several lucrative international online slots casino websites could be on the line based on an arbitrary threat and decision made by an American state is absolutely preposterous. The state of Kentucky has made several threats that it will sieze the domain name of any online casino that does not comply within a 30 day grace period. Microgaming has declared that its own branding and stability as a company is more important than winning revenue from conservative American states, go figure. They have decided, with much ease, to just leave the states, and not put up a fight.

Currently only 13 states have explicitly outlawed online gambling, since on a federal level, only the financial transaction is what is illegal, and the wording of the policy is flawed and vague, which has translated in a virtual lack of change since the legislation was adopted.

Either way, the fact that any mere state of a country which does not partake in a business would have the power or authority to put an entire group of companies out of business is ridiculous. The jurisdiction that countries have over others has been muddled by the presence of the internet. With the world wide web comes a host of issues, which governments have yet to figure out. Because there are so many opinions as to how to go about regulating and monitoring online activity, it will be hard for countries to come to an agreement as to how to proceed. Certainly threatening and bullying a foreign company with theft is not the way to go.
