Australian Update
Australian land and online casinos have been struggling lately to keep their stronghold on the market. Many conservative officials have been feeling the heat from their constituents to limit and even eradicate all forms of online slots and casinos, and they are citing an alleged increase in gambling addiction or dependency, although there hasn’t been a formal study in over a decade. The most recent development, in addition to the government’s latest plan to conduct a formal study in the next year, is that there have been two new anti-gambling commercials to be released onto the airwaves. The spots, which feature information about said dangers that are related to gambling dependencies, were released very soon after the agency was greenlit.
The government is trying to portray any gambling issues as approachable and commonplace, using familiar subjects such as a family with children and a friendly meeting to show how great things can be when situations are under control. The two television spots are only the first of the certain barrage that will be attacking airwaves pretty soon, as television and radio and online ads will be in production effective immediately.
Once the survey results are released, they will either confirm the government’s fears and they will up production on the ads, or they will show that the conservatives were raising concerns over nothing. Until then, Australians everywhere will be repeatedly reminded of the effects of liking online slots and casinos more than they should.
