Too Big for their Britches in Kentucky

In true brash and ignorant American form, the state of Kentucky is in the slow process of trying to legally seize hundreds of international domain names that currently belong to online slots and casino websites all over the world. Without keeping their rules to themselves, the largely Republican (and Christian) state of Kentucky is attempting to make the world bend to their will.

The rest of the world is already tired of the US’s repeated attempts to force everybody to adopt their way of life. After years of foreign wars, invasions, taxes, and double standards, now the US is attempting to bring the spirit of Americanism (or unAmericanism) into the world wide web. The US is currently one of the only areas of the world that still is resisting the legalization of online casino and slot gambling. This, in addition to some other controversial policies, is just a sign of the conservative tone that has taken the nation by storm. Now it is more important to be politically correct than to truly represent the will of the people. The government is more concerned with avoiding actions that may or may not offend somebody, instead of focusing on representing what people actually would like to have happen.

The case, which has been delayed and postponed several times already, is just the latest action in a long string of attempts to quelch online casinos, even outside of American soil. With the current lack of regulation online stemming from certain governements’ refusal to acknowledge that the web is not going anywhere, countries all over the world are having a difficult time figuring out what is ok and what is not. So far, however, the rest of the world is none too happy about Kentucky’s attempt to control and subvert their own goings on. Furthermore, it’s not even on a federal level, so if Kentucky were to succeed, it would be an American State overpowering some of the world’s largest countries, and their economies.
