Man Blaming Casino for Troubles

A man with a severe gambling problem has filed a sworn application against Dragonara Casino Limited, saying that they failed to protect him from gambling. The man, whose name is not being released, is claiming that instead of helping him with his problem, the casino actually fed on it making money off of his problem.

He has filed in the First Hall of the Civil Court, and many of the points that he brings up are seemingly valid. He claims that he lost thousands of liri on the slots, etc. in the casino, and even though he tried not to gamble, the casino made it impossible for him to stop. He says that the casino was responsible, and obliged, to stop him from gambling at their slots, etc. but did not. Instead, they sent information to his home that encouraged him to spend more.

He says that when dining at their restaurant, he had to pass through the gambling area to get through it, which encouraged him to gamble more. He says that this combined with the fact that they allowed him to take money through the Epos instead of ATMs, there was no longer anything to stop him from hitting a daily limit, and thus helping him stop the gambling.

He claims that even the amounts that are promised to be paid out on the slots are not, and that the advertising on these machines were not valid or truthful. He had asked the casino for help, he says, but they did not “uphold his requests” and therefore he suffered even more damage as a result.
