Most Wanted Slots
These days what is popular in Asia seems to have a way of trickling down and over into the States. If this is true across the board, then our America’s Most Wanted people will be soon featured on our most popular slot machines. At least that’s the latest news from Japan, where Famista Inc. has just released a new online slot game called Slot Detective. It features pictures of criminals on the reels, which is interesting enough in a sleuth story, or in a fictional Sherlock Holmes adventure. A dose of reality might take the fun out of it though, as these are actual criminals who are on the country’s most wanted list.
In a light hearted game of luck and chance where it is very possible to lose one’s money, isn’t it better to encourage the player to lose sight of that possibility, instead of giving them the opportunity to leave the slot machine feeling like actual robbers stole your money? Just a thought.
The manufacturer says that maybe that game will aid the country in catching these people. However, law enforcement officials aren’t too pleased with the idea, even though it has good intentions. The company’s reasoning states that they wanted to throw in some entertainment to try to raise awareness and exposure for the most wanted list, which currently is low on the favorites list.
Either way, like it or not, people have been visiting the site online and on their phones in record numbers since the site was launched earlier this month. Maybe just out of curiosity to see what murderers actually look like, people have been checking the game out nonstop. Once the novelty wears off, that will be the true test of the game’s success.
