What’s My Age Again

Another layer to the online slots debate is not only regulation and taxation, but deciding when and if there should be a legal age requirement for online slots. Currently the US has a minimum age of 18 for voting and going off to war, but kids can’t get a drink or sit at a casino in Vegas until they turn 21. However, even though the government hasn’t gotten its act together to try to nail down clear rules and guidelines for the minimum age requirement for online slots casinos, many kids are still taking part in the pastime. Even moreso, it is interesting to note that they are not sure what the rules are for claiming their winnings, since the law is unclear.

The only thing that is clear, it seems, is that nobody really knows what is going on, and the official stance is that there isn’t really one in the first place. Right now the responsibility lies in the hands of each individual financial institution to block the transactions, and in the hands of each online casino to determine who is logging on and how old they are and whether that age meets their own guidelines.

The strangest thing is that there are clear rules stating a minimum age for casino gambling, and the state of CA has even gone far enough to say that even participants in charity tournaments must be at least 21 years old as well. However, some other states are still free to adopt different rules, which just creates even more confusion for everybody.
