South Africa Looking at Online Slots

When people think of online slots and gambling and the problems with being allowed to partake, many immediately think of the United States. They think about all of the people there who are not able to participate in online slots and gambling because of the passage of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act.

However, very few think about the people of South Africa who wish to participate in online slots and gambling but are unable to because of the laws in their country. Right now it is illegal to participate in online gambling, but people do it anyway.

They are doing it on sites that are licensed in other countries because there are no online slots and gambling licenses issues in the country of South Africa. Those that are participating are doing so illegally. But that may be changing.

According to a recent report, a bill related to internet gambling went to the Select Committee of National Provinces. If they approve of the bill, it will then go to the National Assembly for final approve. If the bill is passed, online gambling would be made legal.

As of right now if you participate you could be arrested for doing so, but if the bill passes that law would be overturned. They say that they expect the online slots and gambling bill will pass and if it does they are bound to be inundated by companies looking to get licensed in South Africa. Not only that but those that wish to partake would be able to do so in a “protected environment.”
