Against the WTO Rules
Just as everybody has suspected, the current situation in the United States that disallows the involvement of the entire online slots casino industry is in direct violation of the World Trade Organization rules. The whole point of the treaty is that world commerce is supposed to be encouraged and welcomed, and the fact that the United States is refusing to let their citizens participate is an absolute disservice to the global economy, as well as to foreign relations.
A complaint was formally filed over a year ago to the European Commission that the ban was breaking the rules, and now the results have finally been released.
The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act has had issues from the beginning, since many do not agree that it is in the best interest of the country to block out trade with other countries, and that it is unfair for the government to be able to regulate what activities fully grown and responsible adults can take part in during their free time.
While the current legislation blocks other countries from making any money from the online slots and gambling casino industry, the law also prohibits the United States from cashing in on the already strong market there is for internet gambling. IT is also unfair for the US to expect foreign backs and financial institutions to comply and enforce American law, and that is just one more flaw in the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. The vagueness of the entire nature of the law and the lack of guidelines for whoever is supposed to enforce it are just more reasons for the law to be scrapped from the books immediately.
The law is a mess at home and abroad, and it is an embarrassment to the United States because of its total ineffectiveness and harm to other countries and companies through loss of money.
