Gamble for a Good Cause

People across the country are penny-pinching this year, as bank account balances go down, and pockets feel tighter and tighter. The government even took notice and responded with their rebate plan, where millions of Americans received a couple hundred dollars just based on their tax return. However, the country’s tight financial situation has trickled down to another area, one that people don’t often think of as one that might have trouble- gambling!

While some turn to online slots, others head to casinos, and still others to their local liquor store for a few scratch-offs and a lottery ticket. But this year, the number of people willing to gamble even a dollar of their hard earned cash has plummeted along with the economy. Makes sense right? However, one effect of this phenomenon is truly surprising.

State-funded lotteries were put into place in order to fund schools and the education system. However, this year has gotten so bad, that lotteries and slots casinos have lost money due to the lack of patronage. This has forced some states, such as California, to dip into educational funds, which defeats the whole purpose!

So please, if you are looking to help your educational system, and maybe even win some cash while doing it, buy a lottery ticket! Put your tax return or rebate check into some slot machines, or even play at an online casino!

Pretty soon it won’t be unheard of that schools will be running programs like “Slots for Schools”. How do you like them apples, slots haters!
