Tough Times for Gaming Law Benders

It seems that times are tough for people everywhere with the global economy. Since pocketbooks have been tight, people are less inclined to spend their money frivolously. The people that do, however, decide to spend their money, might like to do so if there is a potential return on their investment. Such is the case with gambling.

Unfortunately, even in the UK, the Gambling Commission is cracking down on the operators of slot machines that haven’t gone through the proper avenues to attain permission to have the games in the first place. Even in these hard times, the law must be followed, so regardless of the financial hardship that has driven law abiding business owners to bend the law, illegal operation of slots is still illegal.

Some of these facilities include those whose business without slot machines is doing so poorly that they fear the commission will shut them down anyway. Others, after having been forced to take out the machines, have suffered plummeting sales and are now in danger of having to close up shop. Still others have complained that the Commission has, till now, ignored the problem of illegal slots too long, and has drained revenue from legitimate casinos. Times have been tough for everybody across the board, and it seems that everybody is looking for somebody to either blame, or fix the situation.

Either way, it’s a lose-lose situation for those who decide to break the law. Just as in gambling, when the risk factor rises, so do the potential losses.

And so do the often fleeting, but very potential wins.
