Bingo and Slots Approved

Residents of Terrance, British Columbia will now have slot machines, thanks to the legislators’ recent approval of having slot machines in the town’s Lucky Dollar Bingo Palace. Because of slots’ notoriety when it comes to high payouts and fast pace, many cities across the country are currently debating over whether or not to allow them. The inclusion of slot machines in any town automatically gives citizens a feel of a casino town, and many residents are not too happy about it. However, the added revenue from slot machines is always a big positive in the argument, and especially with these hard financial times, money is hard to come by.

Additionally, legislators are now desperate for ways to increase revenue and keep the deficit down without resorting to raising taxes. However, usually citizens are wary of slots and casinos because they increase the risk for people to lose their hard-earned cash, and they are also agents of depression and other serious effects.

Either way, Terrance will now have slot machines, which is surprising because it is not the first time the issue has been up for approval. The past three times, actually, they have vetoed the slots no problem, but it seems they are now either desperate enough, or have just had time to get used to the idea. It doesn’t hurt that the city will also benefit from 10% of the revenue from the new machines, either.
