Kansas Slot Scene
Looks like things are iffy in Kansas, now that the economy is in the toilet and people across the country are holding onto their money like white on rice. Not only is the outlook wishy washy for slots, but the public approval rating for them has gone down considerably, even though the revenues from the slot casinos would almost certainly make things easier on the state’s budgetary concerns.
Although people are always excited to do the greater good and help others and ease the pinch of the recession, when it is spelled out that the money needs to come from somewhere and that somewhere is actually their pocketbook, you can bet most people think twice about their once good and positive intentions.
Even the construction of the new and highly anticipated Hard Rock Hotel and Casinos bit the dust, as they pulled their state gambling license application this week and halted everything. They are the latest to succumb to the pressures from the economy, as the effects from all this craziness is spreading to even the highest levels of wealth. If even the Hard Rock can’t rely on a steady funding stream to fund its construction, then how is the family next door supposed to be happy about paying taxes on slot machines?
Since people are unclear about the whole slots situation, it would be beneficial for everybody to have some education about the consequences of everything involved. Maybe that way so much time and money would not be wasted toward big projects that will be going unfinished if so many people change their minds halfway through.
