Doyle Mad at Dikshit

In the latest development, Doyle Brunson is publicly skewering Anurag Dikshit. Dikshit, of course, is making headlines recently since he has officially plead guilty to charges that he violated the Wire Act, which in itself has caused controversy. The Wire Act is just the most recent in silly laws that, like the UIGEA, fail to outline clearly what the rules are, what justification there is for them to exist, and what the exact consequences are if one should break the law.

Brunson is upset now, criticizing Dikshit for folding under the pressure, since now, he has given some bizarre admonition of guilt under a law that doesn’t even make any sense. By admitting guilt, it is like acknowledging and reinforcing that the law is valid in the first place which is where the controversy lies in the first place. Dikshit was fined a hefty 300 billion dollars by US courts, which is preposterous if this is for breaking an invalid law in the first place.

Doyle is upset because right now the poker and online slots industries are fighting to gain the respect of the citizens and government of the US, and people are looking to the bigwigs in the industry to set the tone for how the whole thing should be handled.
