CA Propositions Under Fire

There are a whole lot of people in California that do not want to see the slots propositions passed and are counting on California’s voters to help them. They are opposing Propositions 94 through 97, which are the slots compacts that would give the four most powerful tribes in the state the right to bring in even more slots than they have already.

Many of the opposition is made up of other smaller tribes who know that the compacts with these tribes would slowly squeeze them out and make way for them to make even more money. They say that they are already the richest tribes in the state and that the governor is making them all powerful if the slots compacts go through.

Those that are for the slots compacts say that if you approve the slots you will be getting almost $10 billion into the state’s general fund over the next 23 years. They say that this is money that is badly needed in the state, and that this is the perfect way to balance the state’s budget and help many worthy causes.

The opposition says that the numbers are inflated and that there is no way that the state will get that kind of money. In fact, they say that the state will end up losing money if the propositions are signed. They say that the state could end up losing as much as $60 million from the slots compacts.

The opposition says that the number of slots that are being factored into the equation is too high. They say that they are including slots that are only used on the busiest of days, and that on slow days they will just sit there. This ultimately brings down the amount per slot that the government is planning on bringing in.
