Many people don’t think of their online slots gambling as a career, or even win enough to think that it has to be reported. However, they would be incorrect in that assumption. No matter how much you make at the online slots you are still required to report it as income to the Internal Revenue Service during tax time.

There have been cases of people who have refused to report their online slots tax info as they feel that they amount they win is not that significant. However, if the IRS gets wind of your windfall, you will be paying penalties to them for not reporting. Depending on how much you win, there are some options, however.

You can claim your losses from online slots gambling up to the amount that you have won, but not more than you have won. You can also claim various expenses related to gambling if you can prove that it is in fact your occupation to be a gambler. You can speak with your tax expert and they will list the ways that you can benefit from declaring your winnings and losses on your tax return.

The most important thing you can do is not attempt to hide it from the government. Whenever they find out about additional income that was not reported there are invariably penalties that are put on top of the amount that should have been paid, and now you are paying out even more than you would have had you just been honest with them in the first place.

You can try and fight it at the court level, there have been cases where people have won, but they are few and far between. Your best bet is to be honest about your gambling, and let the cards fall where they may.
