Online Slots Ban Taken to Court

The German online slots and gambling ban has been taken to court. A Gibraltar based online casino has taken issue with the fact that Germany will not allow anyone outside of the country to participate in online gambling. They want only German online casinos servicing their residents, which has created a monopoly for the country.

The Verwaltungsgericht of Schleswig has been hearing a lawsuit as it relates to the online slots and gambling ban, and has decided to pass all of the questions as they relate to German law “in the context of the new monopoly imposed by the ban to the European Court of Justice.”

The online gambling site has hired the law firm of Hambach and Hambach, and they say that they simply want an acknowledgement of their European license for the German State of Schleswig-Holdstein under the laws of the European Commission.

They say that the laws that have been passed in regards to online slots and gambling by the European Union should stand regardless of what Germany thinks it has the ability to do. They say that the referral of the case to the ECJ is a correct decision and that it is exactly what they wanted to see happen.

Their lawyers say that it is in their client’s best interests for it to proceed that way. They say that Germany is restricting their freedoms and those of their people by not obeying the laws as set forth for all of the other European countries to follow. Germany says that they are simply protecting their minors and those with a gambling problem from themselves and from outside casinos.
