Casino Closure: UK
The financial crunch has officially gone overseas. Here in the States, everybody is looking for ways to buckle down and brace for the hard times ahead, knowing that the job market is in the toilet and knowing that their own jobs are on thin ice, people are making sure to save for the rainy days that appear to be right around the corner.
Many companies are trying to cut costs in other creative ways, from turning off lights to shutting down between Christmas and New Years. Many other companies have inevitably had to shut down some branches or locations, costing people millions of jobs, and tons of money.
This is exactly what Gala Coral and Genting Stanley have had to do in the UK. Both are major land and online casino companies, and have a major presence in the industry all over Great Britain. Unfortunately that translates into some major job loss for people in the land slots industry, which has already been hurting from the competition of online slots. The fact that the situation has already reached the UK simply means that the financial crises has not only spread, but seems to be ready to continue on to other regions of the world.
Furthermore, it is simply another way that people are cutting back on spending on excess things, and saving money for the essentials like food and the mortgage and electric bills. Unfortunately for the land casino industry, it doesn’t look like this lull will be going anywhere anytime soon.
