Sportsbetting Questioned

The Union of European Football, along with several other organized sports associations is up in a tizzy about sportsbetting and the possibility of it messing with the integrity of the sport. As long as they get some revenue back from the other industry helping it, sportsbetting, just like slots casinos, are willing to listen to the other side. The second something is unfair, in other words, they don’t think they are getting a fair cut of the profits, they get upset and complain to the powers that be.

Everybody at this point is trying to figure out how to regulate online slots casinos and gambling, and if that is even a possibility given the situation over at Absolute Bet and Ultimate Poker. The cheating scandals there cost players several million dollars, and it raises the question of whether or not the industry can even be regulated, given the susceptibility of the casinos and slots software to outside hackers and negative activity.

The Sports Rights Owners Coalition meeting had representatives from over twenty different sports, all of whom have concerns about online sportsbetting and slots activity and the regulation of the industry. The meeting also included representatives from government in the European Union, who is trying to maintain a cohesive and united front in all dealings with online slots casinos.

However, in order to do that across the board, it looks like they will need to get their story straight on countries’ monopolies, such as Sweden’s Svenska Spel, and Italy’s slots monopoly as well. Either way, the dangers of online betting are clear, in that people must be able to know for a fact that sports are fair and true, and that the athletes involved are all participating to the best of their ability. Any other situation turns into a circus and debunks any legitimacy in the sport at all.
