AGA and Online Gambling

The AGA, which stands for the American Gaming Association, is making headlines once again. Made up of some of the biggest American land casino owners, they are together some of the biggest names in the gambling world. While the AGA has been careful to not choose sides in the online casino and slots debate, they have taken most of 2008 to express their support of further study before any legislation is made. They believe that there is a possibility for online casinos to be legal here in the States, but they are responsibly taking the stance that it would behoove the country to put a specific, quantified stamp of knowledge on the industry before taking legal measures to deal with it in the first place.

Most would agree that knowledge of whatever one is trying to deal with would be important to the success of the plan, so the AGA has once again maintained their favor with both gamblers and non slots lovers alike.  The support of the AGA is actually for a specific bill in the House of Representatives,  HR2140, which would authorize a government study of the ins and outs of online gambling.

In a country that is desperate for clear guidelines that have a realistic and clear understanding of the industry, HR2140 is highly welcomed, although many groups are worried that the study will come out with some negative results for their cause.

In addition to being about the possible effects of the new regulation of the industry within the United States, the study will also identify and weigh in on whether the country has moral or legal obligations to legalize online slots, according to the World Trade Organization.
