Waiting for Cantor
Even though all-in-one devices such as the iPhone or the Blackberry are highly popular, one cannot ignore or deny the success or demand of other more specialized technologies. The all-in-ones are definitely convenient, offering one device that can play music and movies, receive and send email and text messages, make phone calls and surf the web. However, these devices often have a limit on how much media it can hold, and when more memory is taken up, it affects the speed of the action. This is the exact reason that companies have been coming out with more simplified devices that are only meant for one kind of task. For example, Amazon.com has recently come out with their highly popular Kindle, which is a hand held electrical “book” which automatically downloads any piece of literature, and eliminates the need for actual books. While most all-in-ones are capable of downloading books, sometimes it’s not the most convenient thing to do because of the loss of storage space.
So what does this all mean for the world of slots and casinos?
With the emergence of online gambling, it is quite possible to use an iPhone or a Blackberry to access the various websites out there. However, not everybody has those phones, and even if they do have access to one, people don’t necessarily want to dedicated their memory to gambling. It is specifically for this demographic that Cantor has created a simplified, and highly sleek device. They call it the Cantor eDeck, which in effect is supposed to be a “casino-in-your-pocket”, and eliminate the need to have a fancy phone to access online slots websites. The device, at least for now, is not quite ready for release, but is expected to be launched by the end of the year.
While Cantor has so far confirmed that the eDeck will be WiFi ready, they have kept any other features tightly under wraps. Till then, all online slots and casino fans will have to wait anxiously by their iPhones.
