Mount Airy Gets First Slots
The Mount Airy Casino Resort has officially received the first of their slots today. The slots casino is located in the Poconos, in Paradise Township, and the arrival of these slots marks the first ones to enter the region.
The casino is pushing for an October 15th opening, and wants to ensure that everything is in place for it – so the arrival of the slots is a great big step toward that goal. Eventually the casino will hold 2,500 slots which will be of all different kinds. They will have video slots, video poker, blackjack, roulette, craps, etc. They will have celebrity slots and electronic dealers – basically they are pulling out all of the stops.
It took two tractor trailers to bring in the slots, and the first group of 151 slots came in at noon. Later on, the Pennsylvania Gaming Commission Board was in attendance as Ray Angeli watched as the first seal was broken on the container as it was taken out of the truck. They then wheeled a single slot out on to the casino floor.
The slots casino and resort will eventually have more slots, but it will also have a hotel, restaurants, bars, and entertainment facilities. The renovation of the original Mount Airy Lodge will cost a total of $412 million.
