Less
People, More Money
In what could be an alarming trend, Kansas City’s slots casinos are
seeing a decline in the number of people coming in to play the slots, yet
they are bringing in more money. Over July, gamblers gave more than $62
million in slots to the riverboats, but experts say that it is not
necessarily good news. They say that if the trend continues, eventually
you will have less people and less money, not the less people but more
money trend that they have been seeing.
The casino’s saw an increases of 2.3% in slots revenue over last year,
but a decline of 8% in admissions. They say that this trend has a lot to
do with penny slots. The penny slots paybacks are the lowest of all of
the machines, paying back only 88.6% of the wagers. Regular slots pay
back an average of 93.45, which is a huge difference when you really
think about it.
Then there is the issue of the patrons themselves. Some casinos are
neglecting the masses and simply catering to those few high rollers that
come in, offering bigger and better rewards to them while cutting back on
the freebies and such that they are offering the regular players.
However, this trend of less people playing more money at the slots is not
simply happening to Kansas City, it is happening all over the country.
Indiana and Atlantic City are seeing similar trends. With slots coming
into Kansas by next February, Missouri’s slots casinos could be losing
even more money than they already have.
