Illegal Slot Machine Found

Zui Huang, 45, of Rosemead, is accused of operating an illegal slot machine in his restaurant. Huang runs a Chinese take-out restaurant, and has been charged with suspicion of operating an illegal slot machine. He was arrested on misdemeanor suspicion and is due in court next October.

Undercover detectives had known that there was an illegal slot machine on the premises for about a week, but needed to ensure that the slot machine was in fact in use. They sent in an undercover detective to see the slot machine in action, and once they were able to confirm that it was in fact being used, they arrested Huang. The detective used the slot machine and immediately arrested him on the misdemeanor offense.

Huang is also in trouble with the city, for operating the illegal slot machine is not only illegal in the state, but it goes against their business license. If it is proved that there was a license violation, Huang will be looking at the revocation of his license. The business is the Hong Kong Express, located on Hacienda Boulevard.

The slot machine had a remote control device on it that made it look like it was just for decoration. The owner could trigger it and thus make the slot machine look inoperable whenever law enforcement came into the shop. That is why they needed to send in an undercover detective and have him actually use the slot machine to prove that it was being used illegally.
