Dakota Dunes Having Issues

Dakota Dunes Casino is the province’s newest casino, and it seems to be experiencing a few little problems. The latest issue for the slots casino was a power outage that took out several of the casino’s computers. The outage only lasted about eight seconds before their generated kicked in, but that was long enough to do some damage.

The casino says that their 620 slots are all run off of the computers, as are the voucher redemption terminals. The general manager of the slots casino said that it took them about an hour to figure it all out. The slots are supposed to reset when the power came back in, but some didn’t. Some of the slots went into another mode and gave those patrons that had been playing their money back. Then they wouldn’t allow them to put any more money into the slots.

After about an hour the computers were rebooted and all of the slots were operating correctly. Meanwhile, you have a line of people standing there with their slots receipts wanting to cash in and put more money into the slots – but with a line of around 200 people the cashiers could not handle that many people wanting their money all at once.

Those that did get cashed out where given two choices – one which was expedited for those that had even dollar amounts on their receipts, and another which rounded them down – not just the pennies, but the dollars as well. One man said that he lost about $10 from the rounding down – he had one that was for $14 and they gave him $10, another for $49.30 and they gave him 45, etc. The general manager said he was not aware of any kind of rounding down, that it was “more like six cents, three cents,” not dollars.
