Casino Queen Goes Moat Hunting

The Casino Queen is located in East St. Louis, Illinois, and it was a riverboat – but now it is a moat boat. Seriously, the Casino Queen has opened their new slot machine casino inland as the new law allows, to a moat – and becomes the first casino to do so. There are other casinos that are also on rivers, and many suspect that they will all follow suit at some point.

The new slot machine casino is 207,500 sq ft, and holds 10,000 more sq ft of gambling area than the old riverboat did. It employs more than a thousand workers, and is the city’s largest private employer. The slot machine casino also brings in more revenue than any other source as well, so the fact that they have gotten even bigger means good things for the city.

The casino brought their 34 table games and more than 1,100 slot machines to this 31,000 resident city where killings and corruption are everywhere you turn. The mayor said he could not thank the slot machine casino enough, as this was going to put them on the map for something other than the negative press and publicity they normally get.

The slot machine casino said that they were happy to be so well received and is cautiously optimistic that the new Pinnacle Entertainment casino complex wouldn’t hurt them too much. They say that they will be their biggest competition as they will be bringing in more than 2,000 slots – and so in order to compete they needed a land based casino.
