Smack Down on Slots

A Jefferson County judge has ruled against electronic bingo, validating a previous order making the slots type games illegal. Circuit Judge Eugene Verin said that the bingo machines were illegal because they were too similar in nature to slots, which are already illegal in the state.

Bessemer District Attorney Arthur Green was excited to see this as he had already ordered them to be illegal, due to the similarity between slots and the games. He says that the games were clearly slots and not the bingo games that residents had envisioned, and therefore were illegal.

Many residents were pleased by the ruling as well, for they did not want slots either. They claim that when they made bingo legal in their counties, and state they were envisioning the paper type cards and someone calling out numbers. They never would have approved of electronic bingo games which are simply electronic slots games.

They are glad that someone is finally taking on the notion that slots and bingo are the same thing. They say that many have been using loopholes in the law to blatantly break it, and they won’t have it anymore. Some counties have said that they would allow electronic bingo, but Jefferson County has remained firm on the idea that they would not be making it legal.

This is just the first hurdle for them, and they know that they will be looking at a long fight to keep slots out of their state. However, they say that they are in it for the long haul, and they will keep slots away.
