What Is Payback Percentage?

Many people play the slots somewhat blindly, hoping for a win, but not quite sealing the deal. Others play it assuming that they won’t win, but play it for fun anyway. The fact of the matter is that slots do pay back, but no they don’t pay back often.

They have something called the payback percentage for every slots game in a casino – whether they are land based, or an online slots game. These casinos that are regulated by the state have to report how much money they are bringing in as well as paying out.

However, the slots are not clearly defined in their paybacks in the sense that individual machines are lumped together, so you get an idea of what the slots are paying back as a whole – not per machine. You can also tell how much they pay back by the denomination of the slots game, but again, only as a whole.

The problem is that payback percentages on individual slots is considered proprietary information, and will not be released to the gambling public. The amount is determined by the denomination of the slot game, and how much you bet – for they only use max game play in their tallies.

Let’s say for three months the slots game doesn’t pay out its big jackpot because no one has played the max number of coins. That doesn’t mean that it hasn’t paid out, but because of the way it was played it has not paid out high. This means it would show a much higher hold rate.
