National Convention Time

It is that time of year again, the National Indian Gaming Association’s convention. This is considered to be one of the hot spots for slots and new technologies pertaining to them, and people flock from across the country to see what there is to offer.

Literally thousands of slots will be on display for people to see, and they are expecting more than 6,000 people to come and check them out. This year’s event will be located in San Diego, which is fitting as the county has more than its fair share of casinos.

The slots convention usually hits one of three places, and for San Diego this is the first time they have gotten to host it since it was last here in 2005. More than 170 tribes will be represented at the convention; with more than 400 vendors coming in to show what they have to offer that will be most tantalizing for their clients.

With tribal casinos having brought in $26.5 billion last year, up 6% from the year before, it is no wonder that the vendors are pulling out all of the stops. They know that whatever slots they are able to get into the casinos will end up being a large boon for them.

They say that even though the increase from this year from last was only 6% and the year before was 12% - it is simply a sign of the times. They point out that even though there may have been less growth than the year before, there was still growth. In this financial market, it is saying something if anything gets an increase.

They are also excited that the event will raise awareness of the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary. The convention will focus on that as well.
